Many U.S. veterans face sexual health problems
Study on veterans, PTSD, depression and sexual health problems
It may not come as a surprise that more than half of veterans in a new study on sexual health problems experience PTSD but few consider how this may affect their intimate life. A study of nearly 250 veterans reveals how the mental and emotional affects of deployment can take a toll on relationships and one’s sexual health.
the findings add to a growing body of evidence linking post-deployment problems such as depression or PTSD to sexual dysfunction, Dr. Benjamin Breyer, a researcher at the University of California, San Francisco
The study also suggests that the actual occurrence of sexual health problems may be even higher, given veterans level of comfort discussing the issue with their medical provider.
